026: Is It Really the Small Things That Count?

026: Is It Really the Small Things That Count?

In the latest episode of In the Meanwhile, we discuss the importance of small things and how persistence and consistency in these seemingly mundane things lead to the big things we all want in every aspect of our lives.

Think about those “little things” you do every day. The housework. Your exercise.  Your Bible reading. The phone calls. The texts. The conversations. The work.

Alone, these things don’t seem to be that special. They’re rather mundane.

But then think about those big goals you’re reaching for. Your heavenly assignments along the way to finally hearing your Father say, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”

It’s all those “little things” that get you there, isn’t it? You’re not going to get there by accident.

  • All those times you read the Bible are going to help you drink from a full when you’re especially thirsty.
  • All those conversations and texts and phone calls help build healthy relationships you wouldn’t trade for anything.
  • All that pinching and saving will help prepare you financially when it’s time for you to redirect your life.
  • All those small choices throughout your day help you become the person you really want to be.

This episode of “In the Meanwhile” is sponsored by Video Bible University, over 100 video Bible lessons to guide you through reading your Bible in a year, year after year.

Show Notes:

Bible Examples of People Who Showed Up in the Little Things and then Saw Big Things:

  • Moses — tended sheep for 40 years and one day, just showing up, he sees a burning bush.
  • Joseph — tended sheep and one day like any other day Samuel came and called him out of the field.
  • Noah — surrounded by wicked behavior and built the boat in faith for 50 years— he and his family alone survived the flood.

Food for Thought:

Ask yourself where you want to go or who you want to be 5 years from now. Now, list those daily habits it will take to get you there.

Bible References:

Proverbs 6:6 – Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise!

Galatians 6:9 – Do not lose heart in doing good. For in due time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
